This week we have been very busy in fourth grade! This week we finished up unit 2 in math and have just started to learn long division and dealing with remainders in unit 3. In unit 2 for math the students learned how to multiply 2-digit by 2-digit numbers. This was concept they worked really hard on and it definitely paid off for their test! :) Below are some pictures of the students practicing their multiplication skills. To practice their 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication the students rolled interactive dice on the smartboard to make up problems to practice. The students also did an activity called "power towers". With this activity they had to answer the question that was on the cup, if they answered the problem correctly, they were allowed to use it to complete a tower. They really enjoyed this activity!
For Veteran's Day this week we did a craft and wrote letters to the veterans at Wisconsin Veterans Home in King Wisconsin. We hope they enjoy our thank you letters, we enjoyed making them!
This week we have started a science unit called Animal Studies. We have been studying and observing dwarf African frogs. We have been logging about their behaviors, appearance, and how they have been reacting to their habitats we have created for them. We have been taking care of our frogs since Wednesday and the students are loving it! All of our frogs have names and have distinct behaviors that we are noticing. We cannot wait to continue with our investigations. Next week we receive our Fiddler Crabs and cannot wait to study and observe them as well!
This week we had a very special visitor from the Violence Intervention Program. They came to talk to us about emotional abuse and bullying. They had a really nice presentation and we thank them for taking the time to come and teach us!
